Recommended Materials for Digital Art & Design Course

There are a few items that we recommend purchasing in order to get the most out of your Digital Art and Design course. The most important item is a usb flash drive with a minimum of 4GB of storage space. Students will want to have this on hand every day in order to back up their working files for the course. Almost any USB storage device would be sufficient. Having the USB storage drive will also help in case you need to access the computers at our computer lab and save your work. Following is one that we use:

The Adobe Creative Suite is what we use in our school computer labs. This suite contains Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Students create assignments using each of these programs. If you plan to take the course both semesters, we recommend signing up for a 12 month Adobe Creative Cloud student edition subscription:

Although it is convenient for students to have this software at home, we use it daily in class, so students will have plenty of access time at school.

Many students absolutely love using our wacom drawing tablets that we have in class. If your child decides that they love digital drawing and painting, here is a link to the type of tablet we are using in our digital art classes:

Students may use a cell phone camera for taking original photographs to use in projects.
